J331 - Sunday, September 12: Beauvais - Compiègne

79.11km  – 9H35’
Altitude : 43m

A wet but happy Sunday, especially because the sun came out at the end of the day!
This morning Jacky is at the start, for the third consecutive day.  Raphaël, a friend from our small corner of Normandy, arrives a bit later, which was a real surprise.  He thought he would run about 10 km and in the end he ran almost the entire stage, with no preparation.  Raphaël is really crazy!
This morning Serge got up with the famous pain on the left side of his back, which had not troubled him since Dublin.  His back is strained and he wakes up tired.
Gaëtan and Cécile are back and Gaëtan finishes the stage, tired but happy.
There are some 30 runners of all ages, among whom Michel Meunier (president of the CJD), who accompanies Serge for the last 10 km, from Lachelle.  The finish at the Petitpoisson Stadium which was prepared by the Compiègne chapter of the CJD, with the help of the EVGA, the ASPTT and the Compiègne municipal sports organization, is very lively.  In 2009 Compiègne was elected the most athletic city in France, and for good reason!  Thanks to all of you for this great finish.
And during the day, surprise, surprise: Dominique and Sylvie arrive at the stadium as we are leaving. Dominique, alias Zette, is none other than Serge’s sister.  When she was in school in Compiegne she met Sylvie and both of them leave a party in Senlis to come say Hello.  We were all speechless when we saw them! They are incredible!  Nothing could have made Serge and the whole team happier, not to mention the phone call from Thomas B.  It is so nice to be the center of attention.
